Dr Michelle Bonnici - MBChB MWomHMed FACRRM FRACGP-RG
Michelle graduated in medicine in South Africa in 1984. She initially worked in a gynaecology and reproductive health unit in a large hospital where she was involved in fertility treatments, early pregnancy care, a recurrent miscarriage clinic and general gynaecology. To complement her women’s health and family medicine work, she also completed studies in psychology.
In 1994 Michelle moved to New Zealand with her three sons where she worked as an urban general practitioner focussing on women’s health. She was also the clinical lead of a diabetes project to improve the care of patients in rural Northland, New Zealand.
In 2013 Michelle and her husband (who is also a doctor) moved to Australia. She initially worked as a general practitioner in NSW while studying for her Masters in Women’s Health Medicine at UNSW. Since then, Michelle and her husband have worked mainly as rural and remote doctors in Australia, NZ and overseas. She has a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of GPs as a Rural Generalist specialising in Obstetrics.
Michelle is now working at LMDS and is sub-specialising in contraception, fertility issues, sexual health, menstrual problems, urological problems in women, pregnancy care and menopause management.
In her spare time Michelle enjoys reading, travelling, fishing, boating and spending time with her family which now includes five grandchildren.
